The office at Nuleaf receives a lot of questions. Below are some common questions and answers. Some topics cannot be answered in a single sentence or brief description. Throughout the year we will write seasonal topics and more in depth explanations on some of the topics below.
You do not need to be home for service.
You do not have to cut the grass before service and you should not cut the grass within 12 hours after we service the lawn.
We ask customers to stay off the lawn after spraying for weeds or disease. It is safe to go on the lawn once it is dry which is typically one or two hours after application.
You do not have to water the lawn after we service it. You should just continue your watering schedule based on weather conditions.
This is a huge misconception. Grass clippings do not create thatch. On a healthy lawn, they breakdown naturally and are a great source of nutrients.

You should see weeds curling and beginning to die within a week of treatment. During the cooler months, we use a special formula where it usually takes two to three weeks to see the results.
During the hotter months of the year, you should irrigate the turf two to three times per week, trying to obtain between one to one and a half inches of water. The best way to measure your water is by placing small cans in your yard to collect both rainwater and water from the sprinkler. Watering less frequently with longer periods of time prevents evaporation and allows the water to move into the root system. Watering in the morning hours between 4:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. is recommended.
The majority of grass grown in this region is a cool season mix of bluegrass and tall fescue. These grasses should be cut and maintained at an average of three and a half inches in height. During the hottest period of the year, you can raise the mower setting to four inches. During the cooler season you can have the mower setting at three inches. You should not cut more than one-third of the height of the grass at one time.
You should not bag the grass clippings as they are a free source of nutrients. You should use a mulching blade with your mower and return the clippings to the lawn.
